Is only one SAT II Subject Test okay? (Undecided major)

Hey all,

I've taken two subject tests so far - one I did very poorly on (Physics in the 600s, I wasn't expecting much) and US History for 770. Since I have to send in college applications in Fall next year, I do have one more chance to take another test. I've been thinking of the Math II Subject Test, but math is probably my weakest subject and I don't think I would do well.

My question: is it okay to send in only one subject test (the US History, 770)? I'm intending to apply to some top tier UCs - UCSD, UCLA, UCB. I think my major will be Undecided (is that bad?) because I really have no idea what I'd want to do at all. An undecided major doesn't REQUIRE subject tests, but I get the feeling it's best to send in some anyway.

How bad will it look? If I should take another, which one? Also - if I took both the Physics and USH subject tests on the same day, can I send in only the USH one? I saw somewhere that said if you take them on the same day, both must be sent.

Thanks in advance.

…bump

Undecided major is fine. Most high school students don’t know what they want to do in life, and most who think they know what they want to do end up changing their minds.

IF the school doesn’t require any at all, just one is fine. One is more than enough. Keep in mind that many top schools require you send two SAT subject test scores - in that case, you (obviously) must send two. Colleges will make this very clear, and if they don’t mention anything about subject tests or mention that they’re optional, you’re free to send whatever amount you want to. IF the school doesn’t require you send all scores, just one is fine. Again, and individual policy. SOME schools (Yale, for example) say that if you are sending any SAT subject test, you must send them ALL. If this is not their policy, though, you can choose whichever ones to send, regardless of their dates.
