Is Pepperdine University another University of San Diego? I am aware that Pepperdine University ranks way higher on the list than University of San Diego. However, in terms of diversity, party scene (I am not into party, so I need a school that offers tranquility), and academics. Is it the same compared to USD?
<< I am finding a school that is DIFFERENT from USD>>>
How about Pepperdine University versus University of San Francisco? Actually, I do like USF, just not San Franciscos weather.

Thanks =)

coolant, rather than asking if Pepperdine is another USD, why not just ask specific questions about Pepperdine? How are most students at Pepperdine supposed to know about USD, since they are students at Pepperdine? I am a huge fan of USD and understand that as a transfer student for about a month there, you are unhappy. Best to move on and look for the positives in a new school, don't you think?

I just think USD is a joke making students take Logic classes which are not required by most universities.
I think it is a waste of time and money. I paid to actual learn the things in my "major".

Logic is extremely useful in all disciplines. It should be a part of every college-level curriculum.

I feel USF’s curriculum will better prepare me for the business world. It is more practical. First, every undergraduate student is recommended to take a Business Writing class. Furthermore, their math course is tailored for business students. In that math class, emphasis is put on excel. At USF, an undergraduate student is not required to take Calculus. Seriously, Calculus is not related to accounting in any ways.
The professors at USF (School of Business) are very passionate and emphasis details. My accounting professor taught every single material. She goes over problems in class and clearly explained everything. Just amazing!
However, my accounting professor at USD knows the materials well but failed to teach the materials. He directly reads the PowerPoint Slides. That’s all he does! I did not pay $25,000 per semester to receive this type of inferior education!
Furthermore, USD’s curriculum just wants a student to stay longer! The School of Business doesn’t even offer Business Writing which is a crucial course to ALL undergraduate business students. Furthermore, I do not see the reasons for requiring students to take two Science courses, one Logic course, one “upper-division” Philosophy course, etc.
In conclusion, I am not saying that USD’s curriculum is “inferior” to USF’s curriculum. Both have their loyal customers!

I agree with post #4. Both logic & philosophy are very important for all majors. I also agree that calculus is not needed in many areas of study. My opinion is that the OP will not enjoy the curriculum or environment at Pepperdine. Probably better suited for a business school--such as Babson--or a community college or state university that has minimal distribution requirements.
