purdue is not an ivy, and its not quite on the level of an ivy...while its still really good, its nowhere near hypsm (no offense)

<p>"hypsm" are not best in every discipline. For engineering, "hyp" is no where near the level of Purdue. In fact, Purdue beats every ivy except Cornell in engineering.</p>

Engineering at purdue is among the top in the nation particularly civil E, Aerospace E, Electrical, and CHEMICAL E is probably the best in the world, beats out MIT anyways

<p>This statement is ridiculous. You just happen to pick 3 out of 4 fields where MIT is ranked #1.</p>
<p>The cornell website said so. There was one corner where they accounced that they moved back the due date to Jan 7th, even tho the main deadline page still says Jan 1st.</p>
<p>Someone has written that depending on your criteria any school can be in a top ten list, so the question is do you agree with the criteria of the ranking system. If your concern is engineering, as stated, then this might be a more relevant ranking than the one mentioned in post 11.</p>
<p>To parallel what Mr. B said, here is the US News' Undergrad Engineering ranking:</p>
<ol>
<li>Massachusetts Inst. of Technology</li>
<li>Stanford University</li>
<li>University of CaliforniaBerkeley</li>
<li>California Institute of Technology</li>
<li>U. of IllinoisUrbana-Champaign</li>
<li>Georgia Institute of Technology</li>
<li>University of MichiganAnn Arbor</li>
<li>Carnegie Mellon University</li>
<li>Cornell University</li>
<li>Purdue Univ.West Lafayette
11.University of TexasAustin</li>
<li>Princeton University</li>
<li>Univ. of WisconsinMadison</li>
</ol>
<p>Purdue has always been a good engineering school.</p>

The department's programs are ranked among the best in the country. Many of the faculty are recipients of national or international awards. We have recently expanded our expertise with the appointment of new faculty who will strengthen offerings and opportunities in the more fundamental areas on the cutting edge of developments in cellular and molecular animal biology.
