^ Haha! That’s really funny. And awkward. But still funny.

Today we were doing student evals in one of my classes, and I joked about how I was gonna pull a ratemyprofessors and put down that my professor “wears nice clothes” since 2 people had said that about him on there.

This would require the professor to donate at least some of their time to do. Not something I see a prof actually doing. If you see a bunch of reviews from the same date, which may be abnormal from the rest of the reviews (i.e. 10 reviews in the same 1-3 days time when the rest of the reviews are like 1/month or 1-2 every academic term), then that should be an obvious red flag - especially if they are all saying similar things or giving similar ratings. Or say the prof doesn’t have any reviews so s/he posts some good ones - then heed my advice about putting weight to a scarce number of reviews.

Since 1 review won’t have a deep impact within the tens or sometimes hundred(s) of reviews, it doesn’t seem to be worth a prof’s time to do something like that. The only way it would work is if the prof had the patience to write a review for his/herself after every term or like every month or something. Something tells me not many prof would be wasting their time doingit like that. . .

So I’m taking 2 classes where the professor got bad reviews. One of them really does suck but the other is pretty funny. His analogies help and I don’t think his accent is that bad as people say.

I wouldn’t say it’s reliable or unreliable–rather, it’s all subjective opinions of the individuals who review the professors they had. I do have a tendency to avoid professors that have bad ratings all across the board, though.
