<p>I was able to get a position for research at Caltech but I turned it down to shadow some doctors at a program I applied for. Would research have looked better? I wasn't really sure what I was gonna do....maybe wash petri dishes all day???.....so just wondering if I should have taken that offer instead. Anyone done any research before and who can tell me his/her experience?</p>
<p>Research probably would have been better (obviously depends on what exactly the position entailed) but it obviously doesn’t matter at this point. No reason to worry about it. Most students haven’t either research or shadowing so it’s good to have done one.</p>
<p>In order to show admissions officer that you are interested in science either one is fine but if you do both it looks great as well.</p>
