I have researched U of R, and from what I see it seems like a great school. I really like preppy schools, and a friend told me Richmond has a good amount of prepiness. However, another friend told me that Richmond is quickly losing it’s prepiness, and Greek Life. I’d like an answer to this, because I am considering visiting the campus. Is Richmond still preppy?
Still plenty of preppyness at UR, but there is a broad range of students, and the percentage of international students has risen in recent years, so perhaps it is slightly less preppy than decades ago. Both preppy and non-preppy students would fit in and find a group to be comfortable in. Greek life is still strong on campus, but houses are not residential. Greek houses are used for meetings and social parties, many of which are open to all students. Both of my daughters who attend UR have greek and non-greek friends. One daughter is on the preppy end of the spectrum, and one is not, and they both are very happy at UR.
My daughter liked Richmond, but lowered it on her list because it was too preppy, much more preppy than Boston College for example.
