I know this international student who transferred to a U.S. private school few years ago. Being an international and a transfer, he wasn't required to submit SAT scores (just the TOEFL). He graduated with a 3.7 GPA and Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, he decided to take SAT, and see how he will perform. Even though he prepared for it, he ended up getting a 900 combined score, or something like that, very low. This just shows you that SAT is not really a reliable predictor of your success in college.

when i read the title, i had a feeling of...
you're just saying this because u cant own the SAT lol.

The SAT measures your critical language[English] skills for the most part ... and just about everyone who's finished kindergarten can get an 800 on the Math section.

So if your "friend" (we know it's you) only managed to score a 900, your "friend" (we know it's you) is retarded. Because if your "friend" (we know it's you) had any basic intelligence, he or she would be able to score 1200 even if he or she was awful at CR and WR: 800 M + 200 CR + 200 WR.

And don't come in here telling us the SAT is not a good indicator and all that crap because, frankly, every individual who procures 2300+ is an unmitigated genius.

Tell your "friend" (we know it's you) he or she is not as smart as he or she claims.

"your "friend" (we know it's you)"
LOL!

"The SAT measures your critical language[English] skills for the most part ... and just about everyone who's finished kindergarten can get an 800 on the Math section."

Only 0.5% of the country gets an 800 math.

I was exaggerating. ;)

Its probably not the best indicator of your academic performance in college, but it does measure common sense to some degree. If anything, the SAT goes to prove that just because you have a high GPA doesn't mean your smart. GPAS are inflated, and the SAT is the only standard we have. Stop complaining- I don't score 2300s on the SAT, but i don't cry about how the test fails at showing my intelligence. **** happens, your friend(we know its you) just isnt as smart as you think he(you) is(are).

wait, which community did "your friend" go to? cuz some might actually make you dumber. and I bet you that i could score higher than your friend just bubbling A for all the answer :P

^Yep, bubbling a will get higher than a 900. Trust me, I know ;)

haha, I swear it's not me. C'mon, I did way better than that people.

SAT is not the only indicator of college success but it is a good one.
Conscientiousness plays a large role.

I'm an example of someone who this correlation isn't working too well for right now.
I should be at least in the top quarter of my class since I am above my college's 75th percentile for SAT.

However, last time I checked- I think I'm currently in the bottom 15%, haha.
People study way too hard where I am!

What did you get?

so what did u get?!

I don't the SAT predicts intelligence at all, maybe a little, but to use it to measure intelligence would be foolish. I have a pretty smart friend who never broke 2000 the two times he took the SAT, yet when he took the ACT he scored super well. Some people just don't bode that well under pressure and the format of the SAT. Doing well on the SAT measures how well you do on SAT format tests or how much you prepared.

You are exposed to more pressure when taking the ACT.
Less time, more problems

^Some people think differently. It depends on the person and like I said whether or not they are more suited to certain types of tests. I have some friends who thought the ACT was better than the SAT, because it wasn't as "taxing", even though the ACT is a longer test.
