Hi,
I'm going to apply in a couple US schools (most probably Stanford / Harvard, and perhaps also MIT and Columbia), where I want to attend a MBA.
I'd like to know whether people in the US know about Sciences Po -so whether it could be an asset, given its great reputation in France/Europe- or just nobody has heard of it...

People have heard of it, of course, and its reputation is excellent; however, I’m not at all certain it is perceived as comparatively more advantageous than the top US LACs and National Research Universities. Obviously, much of your potential completion for admission to Sloan, HBS, Columbia and Stanford Business Schools will also have an affiliation with an “elite” university.

You can’t apply to an MBA right out of high school. OR are you a Sciences Po Senior?
You’re in the undergraduate forum, so the assumption would be that you’re a senior in high school, preparing for US colleges as well as Sciences Po - can you correct this if you’re a Sciences Po Senior thinking of grad school in the US?

Do you have the required 2-5 years work experience?
Sciences Po is well-known in the American academic community, but what matters more is what grades you got, internships/professional experiences, any research/project conducted/published/participated in, study abroad and languages you speak (Sciences Po is supposed to be very good for that), if you’ve taken some undergraduate classes in the US and gotten A’s, etc.
Have you taken the GMAT and/or GRE? If so, what are your percentiles?
What specialty are you studying at Sciences Po and what specialty are you interested in for your MBA?
What’s your budget?

I have work experience. 1 year in a EDF subsidiary, 4 years as part-time web freelancer, 1 year as Mensa France chairman, a few months in Banque de France…
I haven’t included my few internships in that list.
I am fluent in english. My grades are ok, not amazing but given that I was also involved in part-time activities out of school, they are very acceptable. I have not studied abroad, that’s for those who enter Sciences Po immediately after high school.
I’ve taken the GMAT a week after having first heard about it, and got 670 (V32, Q49). I’m working on the verbal part (especially SC). I’ll retake it on dec. 9th and have between 710 and 740 (I already have 710-720 on practise tests).
I have a License in Computer Sciences (Paris VI, first french college on Shanghai ranking) and am going to have my Master’s degree in Communication from Sciences Po.
About a MBA specialty, I’m not sure yet. I’m focusing on Stanford though. I’m highly interested in both entrepreneurship and global management there.
I don’t really have a budget, I’ll apply to scholarships and loans (and have already begun to prepare my applications).

If you apply to a school of Stanford’s caliber, you need to find 2 matches and 1 safety, at least, especially if you apply to several schools as selective as Stanford.
Your resume is good. Part-time activities that are related to business, innovation, technology… would all be good, as is community service/volunteering.
Beside the obvious, also look into Babson for entrepreneurship.

Columbia could be ok as a safety, their admittance rate is 18%
I’m not really into “safeties”, I’d rather reapply than attend a school that I don’t really want. I tried twice before being accepted in Sciences Po so it wouldn’t be the 1st time…
I also planned on applying to INSEAD, but finally I’ll focus on US schools.
Moreover, there is no “school of Stanford’s caliber” given its admittance rate
I’ll check on Babson anyway; it seems to be a business-only college and way smaller than other MBA schools but the campus looks nice.
Scored 740 at GMATPrep practise test today, I’ll try to reach 750 at next week test
Given my current (financial) means, I think I’ll apply to Stanford/Harvard/Columbia, and perhaps 1 or 2 more depending on application fees and what I’ll find about their mindset (and how many more letters my recommenders will be ok to write ahah).
Thanks for your advices :)
