Is self studying AP tests senior year pointless?

Hi guys, I am considering self studying AP Physics C senior year because my schedule is filled and I simply don’t have room for the class. I did well in AP Physics 1&2 and AP Calc (5’s on all three tests). However, I am going to be a senior after this summer, and I just want to know if there is actually any point in studying Physics C. Presumably by next May, I will know what college I am going to. Thus depending on what they do/don’t accept for credits, the many AP tests may be utterly useless. Besides credit for classes, this AP test will have no bearing on my admissions process. Is there a good chance I will be studying Physics C for nothing? Should I figure out all my plans for college before I decide whether I do or do not study?

Yes, you should make a decision on which college you want to attend before self studying. If the college offers no credit, the exam will be futile.

Should I just look at the colleges I’m interested in and take a look at their credits offered in a general sense? Because I obviously have no idea where I am or am not going to be accepted to.

^ Yes! I wasn’t able to get any credit for the tests I took senior year, so don’t make the mistake I made!

While I agree, the OP will have a sense as to what schools s/he will attend if accepted. Unless a college is extremely stingy with AP credit, it is extremely unlikely that they would not give credit for Physics C.

I self-studied both physics C exams my senior year. This ended up being a really good decision; I was an engineering major in college, so having 5s on the physics C exams was extremely beneficial.
