Is social life centralized AT ALL?

hey,
I think I'm gonna be going to the UW (I'm deferring for a year so I guess it will be class of 2011, not 2010) but something I really really wanted was a social life kinda centralized on campus, and I know uw is kind of the opposite (I live by Seattle). I actually wanted to go to Tufts, but I really can't afford it so I think I'm going to turn it down.
Anyway, my question is to anyone who knows uw life really well--what is the best way to kind of form a community at uw, and is it even possible? A bunch of my friends are going there this year, and everyone's rooming together, and it just seems like when I go next year it will be like going back to high school, which I don't want. Ok thanks

Look at Freshman Interest Groups. Plus don't live in same dorm as your high school friends. Plus get into your major department, especially if it is a smaller one.

Lol. I feel the same way. I don't want to go back to high school. However, I DO want to see my friends, that would be cool, but not like ALL the time so it will be like I never got to experience anything new. That's another reason why I'm considering going to Berkeley... YEARG.

Thousands of people means you won't see your friends all the time, and anyways you can make new friends real easy.
