Personal opinion. Some do better on the SAT, others prefer the ACT.

I don’t think ACT requires more studying as long as you know the basics, it was natural for me whereas I feel SAT is more knowing the test

The ACT covers all the SAT subjects tests, point made.*

You don’t actually have to know anything to do the reading and science sections on the ACT, or the SAT’s CR (except vocab) questions. So I suppose the ACT values more practice and drilling, while the SAT values a deep understanding of the material.

Yes. You can easily do well on the ACT without any preparation, assuming you are familiar with your grammar rules. The SAT on the other hand has a lot of things which are just rote memorization, like vocab.

Both of them test pretty arbitrary stuff though.

I studied really hard for the SAT, but not so much for the ACT, and interestingly I ended up getting around the same equivalent scores for both. I definitely recommend taking both. I personally think that the ACT was easier but that because I had already practiced so hard for the SAT I wasn’t able to adjust to the format and style of the ACT when I actually took it. The key difficulty with the ACT is the time because I ended up with so little time left that I actually didn’t finish everything, specifically in the science and reading section.

Math and science are my weak points, yet I scored a 32 on the ACT compared to a 2000 on the SAT. Also, I was battling a brutal hangover during the ACT. It may not easier in reality, but the format is a bit sloppy and off putting, which may be disconcerting to the average test taker.

I took the SAT and the ACT w Writing and basically did the same. That is, I took the SAT a couple of times. Then took the ACT and when I looked up the score correlation it was basically the same. With one SAT I was one ACT score and with the other I was one point different. So, I am consistent, if anything!

Although many argue that ACT is “easier”, overall I scored better on the SAT, especially on the reading section in which I scored above average (620), in contrast to the ACT in which I only scored a 22 on that section (the time was just too harsh).

I feel like the ACT math is harder than the SAT math. Also, ACT has the science section, which is really a hit or miss for most people.

Varies per person but I think the ACT is MUCH better.

The ACT actually tests you on what you remember from school, the SAT tests you on how well you can study from study books.

bullshit. getting a 30 without finishing 2 of the sections would be incredible.
