Is the anti-semitism really this bad?

U.C. Berkeley students protest ‘hidden hate’ on their campus | j. the Jewish news weekly of Northern California

How accurate is this article? I'm not religious by any means but I definitely don't want to constantly feel as if my culture is despised by most of the student body.

it’s berkeley. Where people try to fix problems that aren’t existent (remember the black ninjas at sather gate last year?).

No, I’m only applying there this year. Are there really a lot of swastikas all over campus?

yes the anti-semitism is just horrible here. i hear random people cursing jews almost every day when i walk down the street. it is also not uncommon for professors to curse jews. for example, last semester when my biology professor could not get his microphone to work, he went off on a ten minute anti-semitic rant, during which he stated, “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” afterward, he proceeded to ask a shocked female student in the front row, “what are you looking at, sugartits?”

i am pretty sure he was drunk.

We celebrate Hitler’s birthday here every year. We also coincidentally smoke a lot of weed on that day too.

All I know is that CERTAIN Jews screwed us over by planning an economic depression.

/hide

How about a serious reply, guys?

I lived at Clark Kerr building 3 last year, which was the building that was repeatedly vandalized with Swastikas. However, no one I knew had any animosity towards Jews. The majority of Berkeley students will not tolerate public racism, so it only exists in anonymous acts of vandalism by cowardly individuals.

However, there some students here who disagree with the actions of the secular state of Israel, but they don’t have any ill will towards the Jewish people in general.

Thank you cavilier.

I hope you realize that Berkeley still remains a largely liberal place. There’s a history of reforms and movements here and it seems that nowadays people always make a big deal out of everything. As to your question, I’ve never even heard of any anti-semitism at my time here and I don’t think you can really get away with stuff like that seeing how diverse the campus is.
