I will self-study for the May 2017 AP Psychology Exam. This will be my first AP exam.
From what I have heard, the AP Psychology Exam is the “easiest AP,” and many people here on College Confidential claim to have gotten 5’s by cramming (and not just regular cramming, but night-before-the-test cramming).
I have done some practice questions (I will officially begin studying in June), and I’ve found some questions to be quite difficult. This might be because I don’t know all the official terms, but it’s incredulous that some people crammed ALL this information in in just a few sleepless nights.
I would like some truthful advice from people who have taken the AP Psychology Exam before. Is it truly that easy?
If you have additional study tips, etc., that would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!
Lucky for you, I just took the AP Psychology exam last Monday; it’s a strange paradigm, given that, despite the droves of students on this forum asserting that this exam is quite possibly the easiest AP exam, AP Psych still has a large percentage of students receiving scores <3 (I think it’s due to the high-acheiving demographics of this forum). Personally, I took AP Psychology 1st semester, and inadvertently crammed the weekend before the exam, alongside my studying for AP Chemistry and AP Spanish. Yes, it is possible to self-study or cram for AP Psychology, and this can easily fit into the schedule of a diligent student; this is due to the fact that, based on the material itself, the AP Psychology exam is constructed in a manner similar to a “conceptual vocabulary exam,” where a question will either give you a scenario and you must discern what principal of psychology/ theory the scenario exemplifies, or you must discriminate amongst a number of theories/ conditions to choose the one that pertains to the questions. As for the FRQ’s, I must say that you don’t have anything to worry about; besides there being only 2, you should be able to easily answer the free-response if you know your material. However, take note that, because of the MC counting as 66.33% of your grade, you should be very familiar with the content, even if it may seem easy or conceptual. All in all, just start studying by January, and you should be good by May next year. Hope this helped
@DangerDan96 Thanks for the advice!
