Penn definetly was my favorite campus after visiting Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Hopkins, Gtown, GWU, NYU, and UVA.. probably missed out some. lol i definitely felt like I was in the middle of Hogwarts!

At night, there are security guards in bright yellow jackets all over the place. Also, there are bluelight phones, and you can call an escort 24/7.
There are some risks, but I think the benefits of being in a big city are worth it.

I feel pretty safe on campus I think. There are guards everywhere if you take a second to look around. I've never seen anything suspicious. Only thing I've had happen is have people ask for change, and that's about it in terms of things I don't care for. I usually hear of shady things happening only when you start to wander off campus where the guards are not so readily available, but even then it's not really a huge concern or anything. It's just city life, and for a city, it's pretty safe I think.

It is important to notice that after the last crime wave they added an emergency $5 million influx of funds and it paid off bigtime. With all the new security officers walking, biking, and standing around, crime has gone way down, as their mere presence (as I've said it would for the last year and a half) is sufficient deterrent to the two-bit scumbags who would otherwise strike.

Since then I feel safe almost to the point of recklessness

I also feel safe on campus. I do not see crime as a big concern of my everyday life here.

I love Philly!

Thanks for the reassurances, you guys. Definitely puts me at ease a lot more.

While most of these quotes reassure me, this makes me wonder about people. I don't think it was very exciting for the student who got shot.

..I think (hope) they were being sarcastic.
