Is the field of chemical engineering getting saturated

Based on the data presented by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are only approximately 33,000 chemical engineering positions with a projected increase of 4% in the next 10 years. This is lower than pretty much all other engineering majors in terms of projected increase and number of positions available. However, ChE is just as popular as many other engineering majors (namely EE and CE) that have better job outlooks and more positions available. This data worries me because I plan to major in ChE and I don't know if there will be a job available to me after I graduate.

Depends where you work. ChemE is a bit tricky in that it’s hard to make a small company that is viable, which is not true for Civil, Mech, etc. Also, there are a lot of people who are in it mostly for the money, hearing that it has a high starting salary. If there simply isn’t a lot of chemical production where you live, your choices are pretty limited, and you have a lot of competition.
