Is there a benefit in applying early for Early Decision

Is there any benefit in applying earlier in the ED window vs towards the end of the window. I was planning to take October SAT to improve the scores, in which case I have to wait for end of October to get the scores and then submit my application. This puts my submission close the ED deadline. I am debating whether I should just go with my current scores and apply for ED as soon as it opens up.

I’ve pondered this too. My GC had told me one of his students applied early to Brown in September and got in, but I think it may have just been to get it over with.

No, there is absolutely no benefit. Brown does not do rolling admissions.

But there is an advantage of doing that for schools with rolling admission? @iwannabe_Brown

Oh yes. Earlier is definitely better for schools with rolling admissions. That’s not to say it’s “worth not retaking the SATs better,” but if we’re talking about working on your essays now vs. playing video games and working on them later, then it’s definitely a significant advantage.

Since most Brown admissions officers are roving the country in September and October, there is no one around to even read your applications if you submit them early.
