Is there a chance for me into getting into Wellesley College?

I am a sophomore, and alter finding out of Wellesley College and further researching of this school, I have been very interested and wanting to get into this school. However, I am not sure if I have the capability to get admited into Wellesley, or in fact any other good schools. My school is very competitive, and most of the students are very smart and over achievers. It is known for its high stress levels; to the point where it has lead to numerous suicides. More and more I am feeling unconfident of my chance of getting into my dream college, as because of my schools high standards it is hard for me to stand out to colleges. My statistics are:

Sophmore
GPA: 4.0
Honor/Advanced Classes: Highest math classes my school provides, highest chemistry class, and second highest biology class (freshman year)
AP’s planning to take: AP Chemistry, APUSH, AP Japanese, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, AP English Compositon and Literature, AP Economics, AP Biology (?)
Extracurriculars: I play the violin and piano (both non competitively - is it worth playing if I am not not that good? Would colleges care about it?), I am a club president (crafts club), I am the Marketing Director of a student led nonprofit (but we’re not doing so well), I go to Japanese School every Saturday, and I volunteer.

One of my major concerns is my extracurriculars. Is it enough? Recently I had applied to my schools Robotics team, but I had not gotten in, which I am very sad about. I was thinking of possibly going into the engineering field, and I thought robotics would be a an amazing experience and extra curricular for the particular field, but now that I didn’t get in, I feel as if my chances are further lowered.

Please help me with my dilemma. Anything is much appreciated as I am very confused and somewhat frustrated on myself and my life in general. :frowning:

Also, do colleges consider the high school you graduated from? As mentioned earlier my school is highly known for its rigorous academics and competitiveness; would colleges take in consider of these factors?

Thank you!

It is impossible to chance anyone a a sophomore. There are no standardized tests and the GPA is still subject to big fluctuations. In terms of your activities, you can still seek out one or two other things you are interested in and I would try to eventually take on one or two leadership positions. In terms of the piano, play if you enjoy it — not everything you do needs to be geared to creating a college application. And yes, colleges will take into account the fact that you are at a rigorous HS.

In general, I’d strongly caution you against fixating on any one school, especially such a competitive one. There are tons of great colleges and universities out there so don’t close yourself off to them…

Thank you for your reply! I will try to seek other activities that I may be interested in. Also, could you possibly recommend other good schools out there? (As I do not know much of the wide range of amazing schools there are in the US) Preferably a small school population and in the east cost! Thanks!

Do you want to do engineering? There are only a few LACs with engineering. Swarthmore, just outside Philly, comes to mind, although it’s probably more difficult to get into than Wellesley.

I probably won’t get into a school harder than Wellesley, but thanks for the reply! I was thinking of doing engineering, but becoming a pharmacist interests me as well! Do you know any good pharmacy schools?

If you like Wellesley you could look at Smith which also has engineering.

I second that Smith is also a great college and very similar to Wellesley in that it is an all women small LAC in Massachusetts. It is significantly less difficult to get into, but also really prestigious.
