I am a sophomore, and alter finding out of Wellesley College and further researching of this school, I have been very interested and wanting to get into this school. However, I am not sure if I have the capability to get admited into Wellesley, or in fact any other good schools. My school is very competitive, and most of the students are very smart and over achievers. It is known for its high stress levels; to the point where it has lead to numerous suicides. More and more I am feeling unconfident of my chance of getting into my dream college, as because of my schools high standards it is hard for me to stand out to colleges. My statistics are:
Sophmore
GPA: 4.0
Honor/Advanced Classes: Highest math classes my school provides, highest chemistry class, and second highest biology class (freshman year)
AP’s planning to take: AP Chemistry, APUSH, AP Japanese, AP Physics C, AP Computer Science, AP English Compositon and Literature, AP Economics, AP Biology (?)
Extracurriculars: I play the violin and piano (both non competitively - is it worth playing if I am not not that good? Would colleges care about it?), I am a club president (crafts club), I am the Marketing Director of a student led nonprofit (but we’re not doing so well), I go to Japanese School every Saturday, and I volunteer.
One of my major concerns is my extracurriculars. Is it enough? Recently I had applied to my schools Robotics team, but I had not gotten in, which I am very sad about. I was thinking of possibly going into the engineering field, and I thought robotics would be a an amazing experience and extra curricular for the particular field, but now that I didn’t get in, I feel as if my chances are further lowered.
Please help me with my dilemma. Anything is much appreciated as I am very confused and somewhat frustrated on myself and my life in general.
Also, do colleges consider the high school you graduated from? As mentioned earlier my school is highly known for its rigorous academics and competitiveness; would colleges take in consider of these factors?
Thank you!
