Maxwell and Gunter AFB has a tradition of giving departing members a gift of pottery/clay figurine (eagle, etc.) made out of genuine Alabama clay. The clay is of a cream color with orange viens, and looks really good. These are ordered from local stores, but I would guess the same would be available throughout the state – a quick Google this morning shows several local pottery shops close to Tuscaloosa.

Alabamagoods.com is a great place to look. McEwen Grits, Wickles Pickles, Alabama Dirt Shirt are some gifts we have given in the past. Each of these companies has their own website where you can order online. Dreamland BBQ sauce would be another great choice.

For New Years Eve, my Alabama dwelling friends brought me McEwen grits as a hostess gift & they were greatly appreciated :)

i knew there must be something. thanks.

Between the meat and frozen food section of Publix, there is a wide selection of sauces made at restaurants throughout Alabama. I personally like the Big Bob Gibson’s White BBQ Sauce, but they also have Saban Sauce and Dreamland BBQ Sauce.

You could buy the person a Mercedes that was built in Alabama…

great ideas bob and derek, especially the mercedes! : )

What is Saban Sauce?

Think of it as a collectible paperweight. But for someone like my good friend, Mike Wozowski, who’s always flush with cash :), a replica of the real deal can be had for a mere $30K or so.

Anything houndstooth. Hats, scarves, shawls, purses. Went to the Bama baseball game this weekend, and even the catcher was wearing a houndstooth chest protector. I kid you not.
