Is there a public high school nearby?

Hi,

I might be moving to NYS, along with my whole family.
we were wondering if there were any public high schools which my sister can attend nearby the campus...
we're concerned about this issue because my parents want to stay with me AND my sister (but this is not the sole reason we're moving.. so please don't think that my parents are being overprotective=) it's for financial reasons).

Thanks!

The public school she attends would depend on where you live. If you live in Albany she would be attending Albany high (one of the most dangerous schools in the nation). There are some other public charter schools but they are not much better. If you decide to live in the suburbs around albany she could possibly go to schools such as shaker, shenendehowa, or guilderland high (all reputable schools).

Albany Academy for girls is a prep school but very prestigious.
Emma Willard is a prep school in Troy (near Albany) and is also very prestigious.
Holy Names is a private all girls school in Albany that is also up-to-par

Woah, Albany has a dangerous HS?

Albany High school not a safe school, I'm sure there are some good kids that come out of it..but there are many of school like 20 minutes away in different towns that you should consider instead

THanks people.

cmoney, what do you mean by 'dangerous'? hearing that it's dangerous, regardless of the reason i do not feel comfortable sending my sister there but just out of curiosity.

also, do you know if I live in the 'suburbs around albany' do you know how far it would be from campus?

thanks!

... dangerous as in there has been numerous stabbings in the last few years. If you where to live in the suburbs it would be about a 10 - 50 minute commute depending on where you live. UAlbany is right of I90 which is convenient.
