Is there a reason why you have to be a junior to be a semi-finalist?

One of my friends received a 230 on the PSATs as a sophmore, and was not even commended. A junior recieved a 228 that year, and was a finalist. The next year, the person that got a 230 as a sophmore received a 210 as a junior, and was only commended (he did not get the 2k scholarship).
Does this sound fair to anyone?

You have to be junior. A couple of sophomores got 231s on their PSATs, and nothing. It says you have to be a junior, not anything else. It's their money, their game.

He went down 20 points? Um... he must have done something wrong.

just goes to show how inaccurate the SAT's are.

Or what cockiness can do to you.

I think it was cockiness also. Also, I think he got lucky on the questions he got in sophomore year, or just right. ^_^
