I really really love Penn and plan to apply ED to penn.
However, the ONE thing about Penn I do not like is the fact that there is no statistics major at penn, while there is a statistics minor.

On the collegeboard site, though, on the list of penn majors...in the heading "mathematics," they listed "statistics" separate from the general math major.
does this mean i can major in statistics? I was kind of confused...

as far as I know, there definitely is not a statistics major. I think you can “concentrate” in statistics if you major in math, though. and there’s the statistics minor.

There’s a statistics concentration in Wharton, which is sort of equivalent to “majoring” in statistics since there are no majors in Wharton, just concentrations.

You can tailor the math major to an interest in stats, as choseri noted, but there is no actual stat major through the College.

What Keasbey Nights has posted needs qualifying, though: If you’re applying to Wharton only because you want a degree in statistics, you may want to reconsider. Wharton requirements are much different that College requirements, making the term “concentration” misleading.

To “major” in something in the college, around 12-14 classes are required. Wharton students all graduate with a B.S. in Economics, so their concentrations are a comparatively scant 4 classes and the core curriculum is much more specific. (The core does include a one year sequence of stats.)
