I do not see a supplemental essay question anywhere, but I have heard that there is one. Does anyone know if there is a required writing supplement, and what the prompt is?
When my D applied ED a few years ago, they sent her an optional supplemental question after she submitted her app. The prompt was something along the lines of what have you discovered about HC? I’m not sure if they still are doing the supplement or if they also did it for RD applicants. They do encourage interviews as a way to better get to know applicants though.
Check with Admissions about the supplement to be sure. And definitely do an interview if at all possible.
I am a RD applicant, and interviewed over the summer. I have submitted a resume, but have not done the supplemental essays. I know they are optional, but will not doing them hurt my application significantly?
I didn’t think there was a supplemental essay for Holy Cross? Can you provide more information?
My nephew applied and was accepted to Holy Cross. When he applied there was an optional question he could answer since he was not able to interview. I can’t remember where the question was posted, but he basically sent an email to admissions telling them why he thought Holy Cross would be a great fit for him. HC takes demonstrated interest into account.
Interesting…does anyone know if the optional question was sent via email or through the portal? My DD did interview so it’s possible she wasn’t asked to submit an essay?! But I will have her double check.
They emailed my husband and I with an opportunity to send a supplemental note (which we did).
It is on the portal and is titled “Optional HC Questionnaire”. Like I said previously interviewed and it still appeared on my page. I think it is automatic.
Thanks! She logged into the portal, completed and submitted it.
Hurley1, I doubt it will significantly hurt your application if you don’t, but it’s worth taking a few minutes to complete it. Personally I would hate to not get in and wonder if that was a reason why!
