Is there an intellectual life at Wheaton?

I wonder about the overall academic experience and whether it is worth a trip across the country for four years?

For the right kid, absolutely.

Wheaton produces an amazing number of those fellowship scholars for the size of the school. It’s located between Boston and Providence with trains to both cities. I believe students have the opportunity to take classes at Brown.

If your kid has the stats to get one of their top merit scholarships, and is a self motivated intellectual type, I think it would be a great opportunity. For the kid in the middle of the academic pack, paying full freight, probably not.

You need to visit and understand where the school is located. Halfway between Boston and Providence is sometimes considered the middle of nowhere! It is relatively close to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Excellent school! I highly recommend visiting!

During Family Weekend we met some students from the West Coast & they all seemed very happy at Wheaton.
