Hi so I'm a in state rising junior. Last year I got a B in Algebra and this year I ended up getting 4 B's in Precalculus, AP World, Honors Spanish 3 and AP Statistics. I still got an A in my other AP class, European History. I have played varsity tennis since I was a freshman and I play oboe in band. Also during this summer I have an internship at UNC-Chapel Hill Biology labs. Is there a chance that I can get in?

You gave very little information, but probably not, actually. 96% of the class of 2016 have an unweighted GPA of 3.75+ according to College Board, and getting 4/5 B’s one year will likely put you below that.

Yeah sorry for the lack of information. I actually took 8 classes last year and all were Honors except for one AP. As a junior my classes are AP Environmental Science, AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, Honors Symphonic Band and Honors English 3. Does this make a difference?

You have a lot of challenging classes which helps but if you don’t do well in them it ends up hurting you. What are you test scores/class rank?

I’m not really sure about my class rank, but is graduating with a 3.8 unweighted gpa and a 4.95 weighted gpa going to help my chances at all?

It might also be worth mentioning that last year 45 people from my school got into UNC Chapel Hill.
