Is there any way I could go to another school on athletic scholarship?

I was recruited to a division one college for track but I hated it and ended up getting really depressed and wanted a transfer release to go somewhere else. I was failing a couple of classes the last semester I was there and wanted to drop them but the athletic academic adviser for my sport wouldn’t let me because it wasn’t his policy to so I ended up going around him and just withdrawing. At the time I did not know about any repercussion nor did they tell me at all that I would need 24 credits to be able to compete again somewhere else.

I wanted to take a semester off because I was really deep in depression still but I ended up going to a division two school because they offered me a lot of money and I needed to get back to competing again. However the girls on my new team were petty and did not like me. I did not know why they did not like me because they did not talk to me at all about it and I did not even know until the coach called me in and said there was drama on the team with me (which again was news to me). He also did not give any specific reason why when I asked about it. He then kicked me off the team and pulled my scholarship with the official reason being he did not want another jumper on the track team and that he only wanted sprinters and wanted me to go somewhere else. So now I am being forced to transfer again and I want to go back to a division one school but my GPA is not very good right now. I was still very depressed when I first came here and some teachers worked with me and others did not so I did not do well my first semester here.

I am much better now, I just needed time or I don’t know what I would have done to myself back then. This sport is very important to me and its also how I am paying for college. I was wondering if there was some sort of petition or something I could do? I feel like I have gotten some rotten deals with my college career and I don’t know how to find my way out and get back on solid ground.

You need to follow the NCAA transfer rules and of course the gpa eligibility rules. If you have some schools in mind, contact them and see what the NCAA coordinator says. It is possible you would need to qualify by taking the 24 credits the first school said you required. You may not have made adequate academic progress to keep a scholarship and that’s why you were required to be in summer school. Have you used two years of eligibility?

Athlete, You may want to look into a Community college for a year to get you grades and credits back up. I am sure there are some with good track teams as well. The clock is ticking. You have 5 years to compete after enrolling in your first college. So, if you do well at a CC for a year you could go back to a DivI college for 2 years. Good Luck! I am rooting for you.
