This is one of my biggest problems about the SAT. There is already plenty of sections without the extra one that doesn't count. If I do bad on the experimental I have know way of knowing during the test and it leads me to do bad on the rest of the test. Is there any way of picking out which one is experimental?

The experimental should not throw off your score… at all.

There is no way to determine which exact section was the experimental until after the test. Thanks to various users, CC figured out all of the experimental sections within a few hours.

You can, however, determine what subject is experimental. And that is by counting how many of each you have. The one with four sections is the one with the experimental.

If you do poorly on a section, just tell yourself it was probably the experimental. I really messed up a math section in March, but during the break I just convinced myself it was experimental and was able to finish the rest of the test with confidence. Turns out it wasn’t experimental, but at least doing poorly on that section didn’t affect my performance on the rest of the test. You just have to learn to lie to yourself :)
