I applied to Case Western Reserve and I really want to there. I have my interview coming up this Sunday. I've been keeping in contact with the undergraduate office. What else can I do to show them that I WANT to really attend the school?

do well on your interview

honestly nothing at this point. i felt that way about my school work stats but on my acceptance letter they mention how i had amazing extracurriculars and essay… so in other words in your interview come across as a well rounded genuine student :)

Yeah, at my interview, I will definitely highlight my extracurricular…(medical clinic/education reformer in India). I will also try to put it out there that my academic side is also very solid. I will also go really in depth with Case Western to show how much I know about it and how much I really want to go there. I’m also going to register for one of their online seminars so hopefully, that will help me out also. I’m just worried about my academic qualifications…but if I nail this interview, it would really help me show that I’m a balanced candidate.

Is there anything else I should do at my interview?

most colleges are looking for more than a number so def highlight your EC when i went to a college interview i talked about my passions. I perform over 500 hours of community service every year since freshman year working with underprivileged and autistic children ETC and being involved in the community and always willing to help people. In my college essays i wrote about that. the interviews i had with colleges i talked about it and in my letters of recommendation my ability to always give was talked about. So i guess the connection with all my materials showed that i am dedicated and passionate about what I love to do. so if you want to do science definitely talk about your experience in India and how it impacted you and shaped your goals and made you more mature…colleges love people that go out of their way to help others

Whoa…500 hours each year, that’s impressive! Got it. I’ll definitely make sure I highlight how my experience in India has shaped me as a person.

yeah and also talk about involvements in school and leadership roles it any…like i do so much ECs that my interviewers asked me if i still go to school?

Hahah. Yeah. I also hold 2 really important roles in the ECs that I am participating in. Thanks. I gotta write all of this down haha.

oh yeah and ask questions like why did they pick case? how was there overall experience? social life? major? how did case prepare them for their future? would they do it all over again? what they did not like about the school? what would they change? ETC… just show them that your not the only one doing the interviewing and do research and be able to talk about things case has that appeals to you and your goals…works like a charm and can tell you from personal experience

My son interviewed with an admissions officer during a visit and they were super nice.

Thank you so much RunsWScissors! This helps a lot!

Tell your interviewer you really want to go there and why you think it would be a good school for you.

Good luck on Saturday, hvsmagic!

^^ What OlympiaSnowe said. Have a strong, articulated reason why Case is your first choice. Especially because Case doesn’t have an essay, the interview is a good opportunity for you to explain and persuade them.
