Is there even a writing subject test?

I am really confused at this point: has the writing subject test been discontinued now that the SAT has a writing section? If this is true, does your combined English/writing score fill in for the subject test score?

There is no writing subject test, you are referring to the section of the SAT which is the writing section. It does not count as a subject test since it is part of the basic reasoning test (I am pretty sure no school accepts it in lieu of their subject test requirement).

there used to be one but it was discontinued now that it’s been incorporated into the SAT I. In the SAT I, your “writing” score is based off the multiple choice + essay, and has no bearing whatsoever on any SAT IIs you may take. the closest one would be Literature, which is reading comprehension/analysis and not writing.

Alrighty, makes sense. Thanks. So when colleges refer to your SAT writing score, they are really referring to the combined English/Essay score. Gotcha.

SAT writing = SAT writing multiple choice + SAT essay
SAT Verbal = SAT verbal multiple choice
