I will be an incoming freshman to Carnegie Mellon in the fall. I am interested in being on student council for the freshman class. Is there student council for the entire freshman class or is it divided up by schools or majors?

CMU has a Student Senate that is the equivalent of student council. The positions are divided up by school, but because they are a large body there is usually not a lot of competition to join, which means you could join pretty early on. In addition to the senate we have a Student Body President and Vice President, as well as other positions within the Student Activities Board. Here is the link to the CMU page about Senate and you can find out more info by navigating using the lefthand outline of topics. <a href=“Undergraduate Student Senate (Senate) - Student Government - Carnegie Mellon University”>http://www.cmu.edu/stugov/senate/index.html
