13 grand is very hard for me to pull out a year for housing. My parents can not afford to take out 13,000 just for housings. What do to do about this? my parents dont make much money. My efc is 0 and my dad brings in 30,000 a year, mom dont work. This is tough for me. =\ i currently pay about 1000$ a semester for private school tuition. 13,000 for housing is tough..

I think some schools cover room and board in scholarships, and through extra federal aid. It's tough when they don't though, room and board is just as much as tuition at our flagships.

There was recently an article in the local paper about a girl who had a full tuition scholarship at a private school, but couldn't attend because there was no way for her to pay for room and board.

What do i do if they dont give me any more aid? =

If your family's EFC is 0, there are many schools that meet 100% of need and that will cover housing too. If you don't see the information on their website call them, ask to speak to someone in the financial aid office, they will be happy to explain their policies on this.

Most Universities build their financial aid offers off of the cost of attendance, which includes the cost of room and board. So your aid offers should include funding for housing. In some cases, they will make aid offers based on the "Budget cost of attendance" which includes money for books and supplies, some modest personal expenses. Talk to the financial aid offices at the schools you are considering about whether they use "billable charges" (Tuition, room, board, fees that they will bill you for) or "budget cost of attendance". You should be hoping for "budget cost of attendance".

Good luck!
