I’m wondering from people’s experience from being in college and dealing with paying student loans. Is paying 15,000 a year for a school to much ? I’m transferring from a community college and I’m currently debt free. So I would only need to attend two years for biomedical engineering. The total cost of the school is 40,000 but I’m getting enough scholarships to make it go down to 15,000 a year. Also me and parents are going to be paying off the loans to make it so that by the time I graduate I’ll be in 16,000 in debt . Is this price really expensive or just right ?
It’s preferable to have a realistic plan of paying off loans. What’s your family’s income and expenses? Can you pay the loans within a reasonable time? I would recommend finding a school where you don’t have to pay or pay very little. Scholarships are nice, but what matters is how much you are paying for your college tuition.
You still have $15,000 to pay for this new school. Where is that money to pay for the upcoming $15,000 tuition going to come from? I would rather go to another school, if I don’t have a realistic plan of paying these loans within the near future. If you can try to find another school that is a good fit for biomedical engineering, cost less to obtain, consider another college.
There is nothing like graduating debt-free. It gives you so many more options. Also, it can be more than 4 total years to get an engineering degree, especially if not all your credits transfer and/or there is difficulty getting all your courses.
You need to have a plan for paying off any debt you’re taking on. Good luck!
