Is this a hook?

I'm just starting to look at colleges and stuff b/c I'm obviously not graduating this year...however, by the time I graduate I will have earned myself a private pilot's license and possibly other ratings too.....Also, I am ~1 or2/250, have about an A unweighted GPA, am will be captain of my academic decathlon team starting next year...what do you think?

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention I'm one of the only girls at my airport...and the youngest, too

Can someone rate my chances at some Ivy's perhaps? All I have to go on are my PSAT scores, which I definetely f'ed up.. only 197...I have next year still, I suppose...

thoughts? anyone?

thats pretty amazing...can be a hook. write about ur flying experiences...and maybe even do a charity run with a plane (dunno...think of how u can tie flying into charity its far fetched tho)...then itl be a gr8 hook

being a girl pilot is really cool

lol. that was very useful input...its as useful as Counting Sheep

sorry but it is, u dont ahve to be so mean about it, thats what i would think if i was an adcom... what do u mean ...its as useful as Counting Sheep

You know what this reminds me of? I remember on the news years ago..about the 8 year old girl (or was she 10) who was the youngest person to get a pilot's license...and then 2 weeks later she was on the new again because her plane crashed, killing her and her instructor.
Uh...sorry to sound so depressing...I'm sure you are not 8 and an excellent pilot too... :)

work really hard for sats coz no matter wat people say a good sat score will always help

do some community service and all so u add more to ur stuff (or do u have other extraxurriculars)
and write good essay dont wait for the last minute

That is an AMAZING hook!

Go you!

Being a pilot definitely sounds like a cool hook. BTW my PSAT scores where 195 and 187 (it went down lol), and I got into Columbia. My scores on the real SAT were much better though. Just study and do well in the rest of you high school years, and you should definitely be good enough to try Ivy and other selective schools.

um, flaming chicken, not sure where you got the story from, but in the US you can't get a license until 16... it is possible that she took lessons at such a young age.

I really want to fly! my dad's a pilot, and he got his license @ 16 b4 he even had his driver's one, but he keeps making excuses as to why I can't take lessons.

Actually i remember the story too. She was going to fly across the country and she was like 10 or something. There was a bad storm, but she left anyways and died.

I have to say, that is a pretty dumb instructor right there

Well, I think they advised her not to do it, but with all the publicity she went anyways. I guess that just shows how the media kills.

well thanks guys! anyone else?
