Is this a smart move?

I've recently graduated from college with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (a gpa of 3.6 and 1.5 years of research under my belt), and I've been thinking of continuing my education by applying to ssome Master's programs in biomedical engineering. What would you think of this choice? Is it a good career move? In what kind of profession could I become involved with this sort of background? (I'm pretty interested in molecular and pharmaceutical engineering and would love to apply my biochem background to this)

This is a very vague question that depends entirely upon what you want to do with your life.

Do you want to be a biomedical engineer? Then getting a master’s in biomedical engineering is probably a smart decision!

Are you unsure of what you want to do? Then don’t get any graduate degree, at least for now. Go work for a few years and then decide what you want to do later.

I’m interested in molecular engineering, drug design, organic chemistry and maybe tissue regeneration. I’d like to be in a field that solves practical problems in the world of Medicine and science but also be involved in research. Does biomedical engineering kind of satisfy these interests?

It’s not so much about the field that you’re interested as it what position you want to hold in that field. Do you want to be involved in experimental design and management? You’ll need an MS for most industry and academic jobs. Are you happy working at the bench with someone else taking responsibility for grants and experimental problems? You’ll be fine with a BS. Do you want to run your own lab and be fully in charge of personnel with possible teaching and mentoring components? You’d need a Ph.D.
