My dad recently started a credit repair business and it has actually been really successful.

It's been getting so much publicity, etc. that he opened up an office recently and has recently employed about 8 people.

He jokingly asked me today "hey, do you want a job?" I just laughed and shrugged it off but now that I realize it....it could actually be really good for my college apps.

However, seeing that this is my dad's business...would this internship even be considered legit? And what if I want to actually get paid for this instead of doing an intership? Is it better to get work experience or become an intern? And if I do work, would that also be considered "legit"?

Thanks!!!!

Sure it’s legit. Lots of peoples first jobs are family businesses.

It doesn’t matter if you are working for you dad, you will still learn some new tools to put in your toolbox.

You get work experience as an intern which can be working for your family business. You can also get pay working as an intern as well.

Do I need to get a work permit and do it through the school or does it not matter how I do the internship/job?

Take it on as a job. Part time, full time, whatever. It would just be a job then. Slap it on your resume, and it counts as experience.

^I’ll take your advice. Thanks :)

I work as a marketing assistant for my mom’s business. definitely legit! i also get paid very well lol

^That’s cool.

So if I want to do it part time, I don’t need a work permit? I’m just worried colleges will discredit it if they see that I didn’t go through the school. :/

Oh and also…do I just record the number of hours I worked and does someone need to sign it or something?
