Hi. I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and I want to combine my favorite subjects in a double major. I really want to double major in Aeronautical Engineering and Political Science. How difficult would this be? Is this possible?

I think it would be difficult, not necessarily because of hard work, but because aeronautical engineering is not offered at many colleges. A lot of the colleges that do have aeronautical, like Rensselaer, are also tech schools with small humanities department. I don’t know what the difficulty would be for doing that double major, but it would narrow down your college choices a lot (which could be either a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it).

Thanks for your response. I’ve been looking at some top-tier colleges in the country. Stanford, Berkeley, University of Michigan, and UCLA are some of my choices. Most of those have good engineering and political science programs, if I’m not mistaken.

My son is graduating in Mech Eng . and going into a PhD program in Nuclear ENG . He thinks it would be hard to complete such unlike majors ,as Eng is very demanding . There is little overlap in courses .

No problem! Bigger schools do tend to have more majors. Good luck applying!
