I heard that if your family's household income is below 100k then you don't have to pay tuition.
If this is true then what other colleges offer this?

Yes, it’s true. Are you sure you’re a googlefreak?

[The Parent Contribution : Stanford University](<a href=“Financial Aid : Stanford University”>Financial Aid : Stanford University)

I don’t know of any other school that has that explicit policy, but there are others who are equally or more generous. Those definitely include Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. There are some others who might be able to do that - like MIT, Caltech, and the like, though free tuition for under $100k is very generous and hard for a college to pay for.

There are some other colleges, like Cooper Union, Olin, etc. that give free tuition automatically, regardless of your income. That is, if you’re into engineering or art.

Well I did Google it and saw that post but didn’t believe what I was reading or if I was interpreting it correctly

It’s not 100K… it’s 60K. Go to the Stanford website and look at the financial aid page. It’s still pretty generous but not 100K.

The site says that the parental contribution will be low enough to ensure that grants and scholarships cover the rest.

[The Parent Contribution : Stanford University](<a href=“Financial Aid : Stanford University”>Financial Aid : Stanford University)

For parents with total annual income below $60,000 and typical assets for this income range, Stanford will not expect a parent contribution toward educational costs. Students will still be expected to contribute toward their own expenses from their summer income, part-time work during the school year, and their own savings.

Please note “typical assets”. Which means just because your family makes under $60K this year doesn’t mean they won’t have to contribute if they have more assets…

No, the person is correct. You don’t have to pay board and tuition if you make under $60,000. If your family makes under $100,000, you don’t have to pay tuition (only board).
