is UCI good w/ getting their students internships?

^^ in general, do students get good opportunities? Does UCI help students get internships? Or do we do it on our own? i

Yes but you have to be pro-active. Visit the career center, be active in your field’s club, go to internship fairs, go to company events and etc etc.

Zotlink has lots of postings for internships and other jobs, so also frequent that.

In my experience, no. The few career/internship offers that I did receive from Zotlink were pretty bad (i.e. really lowball). Ex: 52k/yr for Mech E. starting with no incentives or negotiation, $15/hr or less for engineering internships. Not to mention the scope of work wasn’t exactly the most interesting. Your experiences may vary, however. If you’re just looking to fill ANY role, then the opportunities on there are okay. As the previous poster mentioned, you really need to be proactive in your job/internship search.

hey 15 hr isnt that bad.

While $15/hr may not sound bad, there are many other engineering internships out there paying $20-30/hr+ with an excellent scope of work/responsibilities. Salary negotiations, earning potential, etc. however are a different topic entirely and vary between academic concentrations (I know a lot of people who do/did “voluntary” unpaid internships as it is normal in their field of study). As I have no idea what the OP is studying in school, I can only speak from my experiences in engineering + Zotlink.
