Is UCSB a great undergraduate vocal program now? I heard that it used to get a lot of bad reputation for this, but when I visited and sang in their master class after my audition, I felt like it might be really good. I am really confused and unsure whether or not this is true. What do you all think and what experiences have you had in the past couple of years? I am also auditioning at Chapman and UCLA and did audition at UC Irvine. I loved the atmosphere at UCSB the most, but what about their undergrad voice program nowadays, and how does it compare with these other schools?

Not a great reputation, but things change. See if they can put you in touch with some of their recent graduates. Find out what grad schools they attending after graduation from UCSB and what recent successes they have had.

Yeah I was at their master class and really liked it, and they all gave me their cards. So, with that information I emailed one of the professors about his graduate student experiences because he really wanted me to ask them what they thought. I haven’t received a reply yet, but is there anything that you know about current students there in that program and how good/bad it may be for an undergrad experience? And yeah I won’t be at the convention but thank you!

I just changed my post since the convention will be AFTER you make your decision!

I sent you a PM.

Ahh okay. Thank you!
