“But in your case, Schreyer is probably the better option overall anyway because of the personal attention.”
While I agree that PSU makes the most sense financially for the OP, let’s not get carried away…

Oh come on. There’s also no need to make OP feel even worse about possibly attending Penn State. If they come here with the attitude that it’s below them, they’re not going to have a good time. Personal experience.
@rjkofnovi ?? Is that not true of schreyer? Could you please elaborate on your comment?
No, not any one school is worth that much debt, even U of Michigan. Have you calculated your repayment, including the private loans? I suggest you do. Huge wake up call.
I stand by my comment. Schreyer is an exceptional honors college. One of the best. UMich is a great school, but I think being an honors student at Schreyer is better educationally than being one of the masses at UMich.
ClassicRockerDad, I agree that Scheyer is exceptional, but keep in mind that there is no such thing as “being one of the masses at UMich”. Michigan has the resources necessary to make it a very personal experience for all students. Michighan’s resources on a per-student basis are on par with the likes of Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins and UVa.
That being said, no matter how great a university may be, there is no way it is worth to get $100k+ in debt over it.
I’ve known many UM graduates and one thing they all remark is that the university feels much smaller than it is. To begin with, it is broken up into colleges and schools. And then there are sub-units (Honors College, Residential College etc). I was told that the only time you really realize how big the university is is at Commencement.
