Is UMich's early action program "Rolling"

Just got off the phone with Stanford Undergraduate Admissions.

Stanford has an exception to REA which is that you can apply to a public institution in your home state, but when I asked them today if I can apply to UMich EA as well even though I don’t live in Michigan they said that the “dean of admission has waived the part where you have to live in the public institution’s state”.

If you want confirmation of this, (which you do, I’m real shady) send an email to

friesman@stanford.edu

like I did. Your welcome in advance, I get **** done.

This is what I posted on the other thread.

Michigan, on their website, stated that it changed its early response policy to early action policy, which, in turn, means that you cannot apply to both Michigan EARLY (and remember this part) and another school’s SCEA if you are out of state.

However, on the common application, on the future plans section of Michigan, you can choose among 3 options :
option 1) Fall 2011 Early Action (deadline 11/01/2010)
option 2) Fall 2011 Rolling (deadline 02/01/2011)
option 3) Spring 2011 Regular Decision (deadline 10/01/2010)

I said, you CANNOT apply to Yale SCEA and Michigan EARLY (that would be option 1 on the future plans).

HOWEVER, Michigan’s regular admission process is in the form of roling admission anyway, (as writeen above) so you are allowed to apply to its rolling program while also applying to other SCEA programs.

This is what I am doing. I’m applying to both Yale SCEA and Michigan’s rolling admission, and will send in the application for both in mid October. I am not violating either of these schools’ policies. (I’m out of state. Actually, i’m an international)

I hope what I’m trying to say here is clear.

Applying early action to Michigan might violate Yale or Stanford’s SCEA policies, but applying for ROLLING admission doesn’t.

Actually please don’t email friesman@stanford.edu

The Stanford website will be updated anyway, so you can check there.

Let’s all just apply to Stanford REA and apply to Michigan on November 2.

Stanford has not updated the web site yet - but I just spoke again to one of the admissions officer and they re-confirmed what ripemango stated. The exception will allow a candidate to apply to any other non-binding early action program at a public university not just in your home state.
