Give me a break, Cal tech has fewer than 1000 undergrads so I exclude it. It’s a college despite its lofty claims as a university. Insofar as undergrads, USC’s freshman class has higher SATs on average than Cal or UCLA, at least for the true freshman class.
That’s why my pecking order is accurate.

Initially, you are arguing that SC is too large and that elite universities are small. Now you are arguing that Caltech is too small. Make up your mind kid.

Caltech is no ordinary university. The fact that Caltech’s population is so small speaks tremendously to its greatness. Why would you not consider this school in any ranking.

Just consider the following facts:

Caltech ranks high where it matters: average undergraduate salary of $83,000.

Academically, their faculty output is greater than any other school; the school’s per-capita faculty citation score ranks first in 2010.

The school counts 31 Nobel Laureates to USC 1.

I am not going to argue about the SAT statistics since most people except for maybe you know that SC inflates its SAT scores.

Like I said before, you have no credibility here. All of your claims are based on your opinions and anecdotal experiences.

USC has more kids with equal or higher average SATs than Cal tech. Cal tech doesn’t deserve to call itself a university.

I think it should be called California Community College of Technology. To its credit though, the school does not refer to itself as a university but instead an institute.

Cal Tech is different, way different than anything else.

I think some of this cricitism is legit, some isn’t. However all the international students is a JOKE and all the international teachers is a joke… They should admit no more than 2-3% foreign students and hire close to NO foreign teachers unless they are the best of the best. Someone mentioned that USC gets the most of any college from tution, well that’s strictly the fuction of its size. Other schools could easily top it if they expanded the number of students.

Xmaster, you are spot on. Nikias thinks larger is better; he’s wrong.
