Virginia Law mandates the percentage of instate versus out of state students 67% Instate vs 33% OOS. I do not believe politicians nor constituents of the Commonwealth of Virginia will allow a change in those numbers to favor OOS students. Also, UVa has enough high achieving OOS applicants that apply and want to attend that I do not see the quality of OOS students falling.

UVa is a top ranked public University, with one of the largest endowments per student in the nation. It has great faculty, administration and staff. Its retention and graduation rates are consistently high. The academic level of admitted students continues to rise each class year. The positives by and far outweigh the negatives. And on that note as another poster tried so eloquently to do, it is time to end this thread. The OP got many posts with differing opinions. In fact, most are just that, opinions. There is no answer to their posed question. Only time will tell.
