Is UW CS DA possible for oos?

What are the chances to get direct admission to University of Washington from out of state?

https://www.cs.washington.edu/academics/ugrad/admissions/dtm says that “The majority of students in the Direct to Major cohort will be Washington residents, but all freshman applicants who identify Computer Science as their preferred major will be considered, including out-of-state students (as is already the case) and international students (which is new with this change).”

Low low low, I would estimate 10-20% even after this year’s boost. It’s hard to say though, I see way more OOS kids applying to, say, UIUC than UW because of how hard it is to get into UW CS. This makes me wonder if, because of how hard it is, less kids will apply and it will get easier haha

@w00pw00p I’ve heard UIUC is not easier to get into than UW for CS though

@w00pw00p I think the new system is more attractive for applicants, but that will result in a very competitive application pool. Under the old system, you took intro classes and competed during sophomore year to get into the major. Under the new system, you’ll know when you get the freshman offer of admissions whether you got CS or not. A similar change to the College of Engineering last year resulted in greater-than-expected engineering enrollments. The may be more cautious about offering too many direct to CS acceptances as a result. But, since it’s a brand new system, its hard to predict the exact acceptance rate.
