I hear that it is a party school, but is that true? Is the social scene dominated by drinkers and partiers?

There are numerous parties every Friday and Saturday, plus tailgates and date parties, plus other social events several nights a week. It’s easy to not be a part of the partying/drinking scene if you don’t want to be, but it is abundant.

How much does it cost? What about homework and tests? How do you keep up?

It’s all about balance. Everyone finds their own balance. Vanderbilt students, whether or not they party, work really hard.

Every school can be a “party school” if you want it to be. This question is getting tired…if a student wants a party - he/she can find it.

Vanderbilt is a party school insofar as a relatively small private school with strong academics can really be a party school. It’s not Penn State or ASU, but it’s definitely not UChicago. As Pancaked said, parties are abundant and most students participate to whatever extent fits into their life. As for your second question, migh123, the answer is yes, for the most part, although there are many little niches where it’s not.
