People spent lots of time picking up majors they like before attended university or after two years in the university because they know the major is really matter. It kind of decides what are you going to do in the rest of life, so they take this seriously. Honestly, I really spent servers months asking advice from teachers, professors, family members, and people who know me very well, but after that I put undecided in college application because I have no idea about what I am going to study.

There are many athletes becoming actors when they retired;people who study in computer science become bus drives; people who major in math become history teacher; people who have no major become successful business man, and I just saw one on fb, the person majored in Mechanical Engineering and become a photographer.

I really do not think the major is really really matter in your life.

what you guys think?

I think majors can help direct you towards your path and educate you in your field. I believe majors are also helpful in some fields, moreso than others. For people who already have a goal in a specific field, taking that major on will teach you what you need to know about that field textbook-wise, but nothing is like the real world experience. That’s why for some careers, you can be any major and enter in the career as long as you have knowledge and real-world experience (ie; I know a lot of business people in this category).

A lot of the examples you listed are careers that don’t even require a college degree… or maybe even a high school diploma for that matter. Acting, bus driving, photographer being the few. I think if you are in a more demanding field or one that requires high education, the major becomes almost vital. But even being a doctor, one does not need to major in biology to get into medical school. It helps, but it is not a requirement.

I think it ultimately does not determine or set in stone what the rest of your life is like. But it doesn’t help to choose a major you like or think will match your desired career path. :)
