Top 1% is pretty intelligent people the rest of the top 10 is a bunch of idiots who have no innate intelligence and either take easy classes or work way way too hard (not that its a bad thing but you can tell they arent actually smart). 11-15 is usually the smart people who know theyre smart, take challenging courses, and don't bother to kiss teachers a$$es

I go to a fairly large public school (around 200 kids per grade), so you have your share of innate geniuses (some of whom are nowhere near the top 10 because they don't do homework) and average Joes (who do all the work and are in the top 10 through dedication).

I am certain that no one in the top 10 is stupid. Each is intelligent in his/her own way, whether it's sheer knowledge, uncommon maturity, or whatever else.

Uh, my friends are all the top 10, and we're all pretty tight. There may be a few kids who we don't even know in the top 10 or so, but whatever.

Uh, I'm pretty chill, I procrastinate when I feel like it. I try hard for pride, but don't mind if I get B's on some tests.

My main man is Asian, so he studies hard because his parents whip him. He's the valedictorian, but he is mad chill and absolutely hates studying,

This one Chinese girl is a complete female dog and whines when she gets like a 97. No one likes her, she brown noses all the time without trying to actually be friends with teachers, and yeah, no one likes her.

Two of my best friends are insanely and innately smart, but they are the laziest people ever and only do what interests them. In other words, they do homework in school and don't study.

I really don't care if I'm valedictorian... I just want to enjoy life. Like seriously, **** school.

Oh, and yournamehere, our val. last year wasn't even in NHS.

I'd say that those kids who ALWAYS get first in their grade are really stupid. They become very arrogant and don't want to achieve more than what they already have. It's actually better to be top 5 and not first, you get a different perspective and you try all sorts of different activities to boost your application.

Just my opinion. Maybe I'm just jealous.

This year the Val took ever art class and easy class in the school and beat out the Sal (who took 9 AP's) by .2% At my school Val and Sal really dont mean anything. The Val is going to Notre Dame while we have other in the top 25 going to Princeton, Yale, Standford and 2 MIT.

I can say most are smart, but some aren't our #1 right now is an idiot. He will drop next year though. That would be FANTASTIC! lol. I'm sorry, but he (and the #3 person) don't deserve their spots.

well, there are 44 in my class and we don't rank, but one of the girls who is most often called the most genius (along with myself, no attempt to brag, jk), while capable of getting 105's on math tests and memorizing the entire civil war date by date, is one of the least perceptive, naturally gifted and creative (in the mind) people i've ever met.

i am #1 in my very competitive class. i am definitely sure that the top 10 are VERY smart and they don't just work hard (probably the top 20). The ranks are always moving around (although i've managed to be #1 for most of the year). However, i have a very large class of 752 people, and the blockheads are ranked about 200 or so.

this thread is really ridiculous. people that aren't in the top 10 who claim their top 10 is "stupid" (which in it self is a pretty "stupid" word) are just jealous that they themselves didn't get the grades to be in the top 10.

hmm, well, our top 5 is pretty smart. The rest are just well rounded people but they don't really come close GPA wise

Our valedictorian made it to Harvard. I think 2-3 other kids also got accepted.

Then again, my school's a magnet schooled ranked in the top 10 in the nation.

Break down...

Our Number is the hardest working girl I have ever meet, but not what you would call "naturally smart'

Our number two is brilliant. He was taking the IB Maths in 8th grade.

Our number three is an amazing writer and is another naturally smart kid.

Our numbers 4-6 are very smart, naturally smart, but don't care as much as the top kids. They get 6 +As instead of 7-8.

Our numbers 7-9 are very hard workers, but had to work for it. Number nine is steadily improving(went from -As in middle school to 10 +As and 6 As in High school) and is very attrative and amazing and ....if you did not get the hints, this person is me.

Finally, our number 10 is naturally smart, but not as applied. He is right behind me GPA wise, like a .02 difference.

We had one male val. Others were all females lol. Most are pretty intelligent. One/two (inc. myself :P) are bright and hardworking.

I just hate it when ppl make val by taking the easiest class available. Like Home Ec. This happened a few years back...grrr...

Anyways, I think most of us deserved our spots. Some just have to work harder, and that's okay. (Refering to myself lol)

At my school, getting a 4.0 won't even land you in the top 20% because the school is just damn full of geniuses.

^ Not one person in my class has even a 3.99

^ That is kinda sad. If you have a 4.0, you are in like the top 10-15 percent.

A 4.0 at my school would be val or at most sal. So it would be like.. top .5%. I guess our grade inflation isn't as bad as we thought.

My school weights grades, so our top 10 consists of the people who AP-overload. I'm number one right now (probably won't be after they recalculate rank, lol), but I've figured out that some people in the 10-20 range actually make higher grades than me. They're just taking fewer APs. Haha, I wasn't consciously trying to gradewhore since the alternate to APs would be Intro to Construction and Floral Design, but it's a convenient thing for me.

I'm not sure exactly who the top ten are, but I would consider us all to be... not stupid. I'm probably not the smartest person in the group, but I'm pretty sure the smartest person in the class isn't in the top 10 at all. Anyway, our top 10 tends to be pretty cool and fairly modest. The people who flaunt their "intellectualism" and try to start philosophical debates they're not equipped to handle aren't in the top 10.

Those of us in the top three seem to have pretty so-so work ethic. The other two seem to be juggling a lot, so they don't care whether they dot every i and cross every t. Whereas I would definitely be the OCD, anal-retentive big-time procrastinator someone mentioned in an earlier post.

It varies. I would say that everyone in the top 10 is pretty smart but we have a lot of different combos of the following three things: natural (like, freaky) intelligence, hard work (insanity), and just being good at school if you know what I mean. But I can definately say everyone who has made it deserves it. I won't be able to find out my rank until school starts, but I'm pretty sure I'll be number 1 (at semester, I was number 2 and no one had any idea who was number 1). The funny thing is, while my grades matter to me, class rank really doesn't. I'm not sure this really makes sense, but knowing I was able to pull through in a hard class and that I did my best is a lot more important to me than seeing how I stack up in an artificial ranking system. Although, I must admit I am curious to know who's numero 1.

Haha, I'm the opposite. I couldn't care less about my grades if my ranks stays high. Lol, I'm so shallow.
