Does anyone know of any websites that help with the test prep for the vocabulary portion on the mid level exam for 7th graders? I checked out the membean.org website but it is specifically for the SAT. It seems like a really fun way to learn. I was wondering if there is something similar out there for the ISEE. It would probably be a lot more fun than the typical Princeton Review or Kaplan book for test prep. Thanks.

What you need is simply to buy the SSAT book and do their exercises. It’s the only thing that really is effective. I also thought like you, and decided to study for the ISEE casually without too much effort. I didn’t do too well at all, with an average of about 75th percentile. I then decided to take Kaplan tutoring and my scores improved on the SSAT to 92nd percentile, which I was very pleased with.
For vocabulary specifically, I’d recommend a flashcard app like quizlet. Take some time to find a good list in there, and then go through the cards whenever you have a few minutes. My daughter set weekly goals for herself (# of cards mastered) and found this to be a pretty straightforward way to study. That, and the official ISEE study guide, for familiarity with the mechanics of the test.
