Haha, let's see..
immersing myself in school work and my extra curriculars. i'm not applying anywhere else until i receive a rejection letter, haha. i know it's crazy, but i don't want to have to do any extra work unless i have to.

Me too!
I've applied only one other place so far, and that's only because the application was free if I submitted it by a certain date.

I hope I won't have to do any other applications...
gulp

Uh-oh, belle.
Aren't those US applications due tomorrow?
haha :)

To keep myself busy I'm doing stagecrew for A Christmas Carol.
The play ends on the 14th, so it does a pretty good job of filling the time until the letters come!

Ohmygod, whoever said they became superstitious, me tooo!
Anytime I think "Rejection letter" or "I won't get in" I knock on wood.

Haha, rottedtofu, yes they are!

I've had them ready for a few weeks now, but have been fine tuning it.

I finally submitted it today, though!

Hopefully I won't have to submit any more...

I keep having dreams and last night I had a dream that I didn't get in and I woke up almost crying...I'm going INSANEEE

Ugh me too.
I go on this site and the facebook one constantly, 'cause it's all that there is to do besides just wait around..

Ahhh, nightmare!!

What UCs are you applying to, belle?

I had a dream the other night that I was at Barnard and walking around the city. Then I woke up and realized I haven't even been accepted yet! It was very disheartening.

I pass time by listening to my Coldplay albums over and over and over again. Also, my room has become extraordinarily clean, since I have to release my nervous energy some way!

I'm applying to UCLA and Cal, and also UCI as a backup in case everything else goes up in flames.

Are you applying to any, rottedtofu?

Same here rottedtofu! I haven't been concentrating on anything else, all I do is check this website or track my application :)
I'm really scared though, because I haven't even received the financial aid letter yet!!!!

I'm turning into a bundle of nerves. I thought it was over once I finally submitted the app. Not at all. I've been checking this site far too much, reading over other apps and not doing them, rereading my favorite books, starting to direct one-acts...
Not much longer though, and we'll all know. That in itself, honestly, is a huge relief. I mean, not so much if I get rejected, but at least I'll breathe a little, just finally knowing the answer.
I'm planning on majoring in English and possibly minoring in French, but I'm also really interested in linguistics. So, basically give me anything not math or science related, and I'm very happy.
Hope I can see all of you guys next fall! Or, is anyone planning to defer for a year?

Ahm next fall. Imagine, we could all be at Barnard in less than a year...
And, I'm planning on majoring in Biology<3

I can't imagine that yet, razax, if I get accepted I'll let myself dream about next year. Otherwise, I need to prepare for the worst. Sweetetcetera, I'm having the same problem. I keep reading over my application, trying to figure out what I could have done differently, tracking my app (even though it's now complete), and obsessively reading this site. It's just so hard to get your mind off this stuff (though it's better during the school week...very little time to obsess).

I knock on wood all the time!!!!!
and wish at 11:11 and now I've even started wishing ELEVEN times just in case.
there's also this notice in the hall that says "Barnard College, Smith College, Mount Holyoke, and Wellesley will be presenting on November 17th"
I've become really OCD and every time i pass it i have to tap the Barnard part.
I'm really trying to avoid my other aps even though my college counselor wants us to start ASAP....ugh

15 days!

So this is pretty much the epitome of obsession, but what day do you think they'll send out letters?

My desperate side hopes that they send them Friday because the 15th is a Monday and that the mail is really fast and I get it on Saturday.:p (and thus wouldn't be able to obsess all weekend)

No, I'm not.
I was going to, but don't like any of them that much.
San Diego is by my dad, and Berkeley is by my mom.
And I'm trying to get away..
I don't like the people at UCLA.
Davis is in the middle of nowhere.
Santa Cruz, Merced, and Riverside aren't very good.

Which leaves Irvine. Which I liked, but not enough to do everything by Nov. 30, when hopefully I'd just have to withdraw :)

I wish on 11:11, too!
or 10:10 or any!
It's getting pretty desperate.
haha

Oh, man.
What's the earliest people started getting them last year?
I bet they won't come any earlier than the 13th.

Do they ever come later then the 15th?
I would so be freaking out if they did!

Last year they were mailed out on Thursday, December 13 and some people reported getting their letters the next day via Express Mail.

Hmm...so I wouldn't be surprised if they mailed them on the 12th this year (assuming they don't work Saturday). Hopefully we'll get them Saturday (though the people most likely to get them Saturday would only be the tri-state area people).

Hmm. It's possible that they'll mail them on Thursday or Friday, but not on Saturday (all Barnard offices are closed on Saturday; I found out the hard way in the first week of my Barnard career). Monday is possible, but Barnard tends to be early about sending things out, not late. With the exception of the letter to one of my friends, which got lost! It was sadly a rejection too. :(

That's what I figured...it would be awesome if they sent them Thursday, then we'd actually have a pretty realistic shot at getting them Saturday!

Does admissions send them just via regular mail or are they shipped first class or anything?

Packets offering admissions are sent via Express Mail (BIG red and blue cardboard envelope). Other less desirable letters are sent via regular US mail, I believe.
