Stay away from candles/mugs/lotions/etc. Teachers get heaps of this stuff every year. One of my teachers got so many candles, her husband told her she wasn’t allowed to bring them home anymore.

I’m all for the nice letter idea. Or a nice poster to hang in their classroom.

OR…this is a good one if you go to public school…supplies for their room, or giftcards to office supply stores. Often, teachers have to pay for supplies out of their own pockets. It’s nice to give them a break and buy them some basic stuff that teachers always go through super fast (pens/pencils, printer paper, etc.).

They’ll get what’s coming to them…

Friedrice, they’ll remember you because of how you worked in their class and the kind of effort you put in, not because you got them a case of scented bath soaps.

^ Well yeah, but giving a gift is better than not giving one at all.

goto a printing store and have them print out pads of paper with the name of the teacher and the school at the top of the pad, and some frequent saying of the teacher’s to the class (if there is one and it won’t embarrass the teacher) appearing at the bottom of the pad of paper.

Order like 2-3 per teacher, or 10 if you want to impress. Each pad costs about 50 cents!

I guarantee teachers will be SO PLEASED to get such a personal gift, and so useful too.

All the homework you owe

im throwing my chemistry AP teacher a retirement party :] You could try that except take out the retirement.

I’ve had the same bio teacher for three years and at the end of every year (or term, sometimes!) we have a roasting-marshmallows-over-bunsen-burners party XD

Last year, my friend who was leaving got flowers and chocolate and wine and stuff to thank her teachers, but I think that was overkill; this year I’m just baking a huge batch of cookies, putting 10ish in cellophane bags, decorating each bag with ribbons and stuff and sticking a personal letter to each bag. I think something that you make is a lot more appreciated than something that you buy. Just my two cents :)

i want to give something to my AP Stat teacher…i cannot decide…i want something related to statistics (some kind of funny saying or something)…

male in 40s, loves to ride bicycles. really, really into math!

Please HELP!!

French teacher (for three years): La Madeleine gift certificate

Physics teacher - really cool teacher and a school favorite. Request list - with no guarantee - to get in his class. Gift - DVD set - FIREFLY (Joss Whedon); he mentioned that he had never seen it. Will have an astronomy course with him next year, but still would like him to have this since we talked about it.

English teacher - haven’t decided whether or not to get a gift, but definitely a personal note for the extra time and individual attention she gave each student. (Hard to believe, but the weekend before the research paper was due, she remained available to the class by email for questions. Emailed a copy of the paper about six on Sat with specific questions and she responded about 10. Corrected and emailed around midnight and she had responded by 8 the next morning. Learned so much about writing in that class.) Gee, maybe a gift is in order, but I don’t want to look like I’m sucking up as she will write one of my recs.

Write a thank-you note and make a donation in each teacher’s name to your local public education foundation (if you go to a public school) or your school’s library (if you go to a private school). Teachers actually appreciate this.

Get your History teacher “Guns, Germs, and Steel”, “Collapse”, and a FIFA soccerball… if you can find one.

a bj :] jk lol

do you really need to spend $100 on your teachers? a batch of cookies or something to that effect would suffice, without the total brown-nosing effect. save your money for college.

Get your teacher a gift that’s an inside joke
