It's time for finals and my kid has mono!

Absolutely contact the school. There are several possible ways to deal with the illness. 1) modify/waive outstanding homework or projects, and waive final exams.
2) give incompletes so that she can make up the work later.

I’d push for option 1. I’ve had kids do both, and it is a huge pain to get work made up later. Better to see if they’ll just waive the finals.

Our kids have had luck getting incompletes (& making them up) but never had much of anything waived. Good luck!

NY parent here.

Speak to administration, but also every teacher.

If you r daughter has done well enough (for your/her) liking and does not need a “final” exam to pull up her grades, see if she can just skip the final. Certainly she has grades for 3 marking periods already, grades for this last marking period and they can come up with an appropriate final grade for the course. (What would the school do if there was a family emergency, or child was in the hospital???) This will likely be less difficult to deal with than you think (at least I hope so)!!

NYS Regents??? She have no recourse other than to take them in August. (Sons are in college and I can’t recall how many they had to take in 10th grade… Science? Math?)

(Son1 had mono several weeks into Freshman year at college. Every teacher he emailed was understanding and told him to come back to class when he was ready. Took a couple of weeks and even then had some trouble making it to all classes. Roughed it out at school the whole time as he didn’t want to come home and saw no reason for us to move him into a hotel with us… Ugh… no fun, but he made it through just fine.)

Child is in high school, they definitely have to talk to the parent.

No, the state only gives the exam at the given date and time. There are no make up dates for the Regents.

The last classroom teaching day is June 12 (if you are in NYC, there are 6 classroom days left because Thursday is a staff development day and students are not in attendance)

As s sophomore she will have a full plate having regents exams in Math, Global, Science (and possibly english if her school gives the exam in 10th grade).

If you believe that there is any way that she cannot sit for the exam, contact the GC so that the exam can be dropped from her program so that a scan sheet is not produced for her and it will not show up as ABS on her transcript. Then make sure that she is signed up to take them in august.

If you feel that he needs additional time, because she needs to get herself together, needs a quiet space, breaks, etc, fill out a request for a 504 accomodation (take the form to her doctor and get it done ASAP). Attaching the one from NYC DOE. If this is not the form your school needs, have the GC e-mail the form to you so that you can take it to the doctor tomorrow.

She would even be able to use it for finals.

Take the form to the doctor tomorrow, get it filled out and deliver it to the principal or the AP for Instructional Support(sped) because it needs a couple of days to be processed. (x-posted with compmom)
